When Charles Milling first began his Live Hymnal project, the industry was still about album sales, not individual downloads. So, he has had to figure out a way to respond.
In my case, podcasting is such a young industry by comparison, I can only imagine what big changes are still to come on the horizon.
But, when that time comes, I’m hoping that the connections I have been nurturing over the years in my field, the groups I belong to, and the resources I’ve become in the habit of mining will keep me not only well-informed, but also well-equipped to respond.
The trick is going to be, how do I stay AHEAD of the curve. Well, right now, I’m still in catch-up mode, building up my skills and experience in general. BUT, I think that regularly engaging in convention, workshops, and other peer-think opportunities will encourage that creative thinking, when the time comes.
And, of course, building that network will also provide a lot of the support we will all need in those times. Who knows… perhaps by keeping those creative juices flowing and keeping an eye focused on where the road can bend ahead of you will lead to YOU being the change that your industry next sees!!
